Frequently Asked Questions
Do you currently have any puppies available and how much do they cost?
See the “ Puppies” tab. Please refer to the Purchasing page.
How long have you been raising/breeding boxers?
We have been raising AKC boxers since 2003.
At what age can the puppies go home?
Puppies are fully weaned and ready to go to their new homes around seven to eight weeks of age. Never before their 8 week check-up and first set of shots the vet gives. If the vet said they are ready at 8 weeks old, they can go but not before.
Are all of your adults and puppies AKC registered?
Yes. All our adults are purebred AKC (American Kennel Club) registered.
How do I reserve a puppy?
By placing a deposit of $200 to hold your puppy.
What is your refund policy on deposits?
They are non-refundable.
Do you take checks/Pay Pal?
We take cash and Zelle. We are no longer using PayPal. Please contact me before sending any type of payment.
How do I purchase a puppy/get on the waiting list?
To make a deposit/reservation, you can place a deposit through Zelle. Be sure to contact me first. Be sure to indicate which puppy or litter.
Do you have a health guarantee and do you have a color guarantee of the puppies?
Health guarantee: Absolutely! We stand behind the health of our puppies 100%. Please see our Health Guarantee. Color guarantee: We can NOT guarantee that your chosen puppy will or will not change color or shades of color.
What do you feed your puppies?
Wholesome Puppy Food found at Tractor Supply stores. The company that makes this food has never had a recall or issues on any of their foods is why we have chosen them. They also make an organic dog food. You will also get a small bag to take home with you at the time you take your puppy home.
Where are you located? We are located about 10 miles east of Jack, about 17 miles north of Enterprise, about 25 miles south west of Troy. We are about 65 miles south of Montgomery. In southeast Alabama.
What hours are you open so we can we come and visit the puppies before we choose one?
We are here most of the time. We do not have regular “open” hours as we do not have puppies continuously year-round. Please understand that we can no longer allow visiting because of outside diseases that can be brought in. Parvo can be very deadly and affect our entire kennel which we work very hard to keep it diseased free.
Are the puppies wormed?
Most definitely. Our kennel is on a farm and as such we have other animals and critters around making worms inevitable. We worm the puppies from 2-6 weeks of age. Our puppies are vet checked and wormed by our vet. The worming information is included in your take-home packet along with the shot records. Our puppies see the vet at least 3 times before they go to their new homes and at least 4 times if the are shipped.
Do your puppies come with full AKC registration? Puppies come with a full and limited AKC registration. We highly recommend neuter and spay. Limited registration (for the rundts in the litter) means you would not be able to show the pup/dog in conformation shows or use the dog for breeding purposes. You could still enter the dog in agility and other events. If you are interested in breeding, please contact me first. There is a breeding fee of $850. to be paid at the time the pup is picked up. We must be notified when you plan on breeding your boxer.
Do you give the puppies their first vaccination? Our vet does. Puppies come with one set of puppy shots. A vet issued vaccination record is included in the new puppy owners take-home packet.
When will their next vaccination be due? Generally at 9 weeks and again at 12 weeks (with rabies shot). Some vets give shots at 15 weeks.
Do you protect against parasites at your kennel? Absolutely. Parasites are a common organism, as are worms, and all breeders should protect their puppies from worms and parasites. . We administer a prescription parasite preventive called “Albon” or "Marquis" which we get from our vet. It’s expensive, but it’s worth it!
Should I take my puppy to the vet right away? Your puppy will have had all of the health requirements administered by our vet that will ensure that you take home a happy, healthy puppy. You need to have your puppy vet checked within the 72 hours, per our contract.
What is included in the new owners take-home packet?
- Rising Creed Boxers Puppy Health Guarantee/Contract
- Registration Papers from the American Kennel Club
- Vet issued shot record
- Small bag of Puppy food
Do you dock the tails and remove the dew claws? Our vet does both.
Do you ship puppies? We can ship puppies through a ground carrier throughout the United States. We do not ship overseas. They must be a minimum of eight weeks of age before they can be shipped. The cost varies according to the distance from the breeder. Contact the ground shipper for more information. The airlines are not shipping dogs or puppies like they have done in the past. You can take a pup as a carry-on but check with the airlines for more information.
Does AKC ever inspect your kennel? Yes, they have and we meet AKC standards.
Are you a puppy farm or puppy mill? NO! In a puppy farm/mill you will find small cages stacked, the dogs receive little to no exercise and little to no human contact. The dogs are unclean and receive lack of physical care. Puppy mills are constantly having puppies. Puppy mills and farm do not offer health guarantees or will not take a pup/dog back if you can no longer keep it. We have maybe 3 or 4 litters a year and many times less. Our dogs and puppies are played with to keep them socialized. Here, at Rising Creed Boxers, we would invite you to come and visit but a visit makes it very difficult for us because after some one visits, we spend a whole day or more sanitizing in case Parvo has been brought into our kennel. This time takes us away from the care of our puppies and dogs. Every part of our facility is cleaned daily. Our daily routine is such that the dogs are exercised each day, where they can interact with us, play catch and just plain run. They go into our large back yard to spend their day lounging in the sun or playing together with their toys. In the nighttime they are kenneled for their safety and to enable us to check each one for any health problems that may be surfacing. (All of our dogs are house trained and we rotate who sleeps at night in our home.) All our dogs here are our pets and we couldn’t love each and every one of them more. They are our number one priority and making sure they live a healthy and happy life is our goal. We really enjoy what we do and we think it shows!
